Introduction- Ok today i am writing a blog about one of my most favorite thing in the whole world. Its my phone the Nokia E62. Ya i know its a little old but i just love this thing cause it has never given me any problems.
to start with now this phone might be a little big for all of you who are fond of using a small micro phone, but this phone is not made for those people. This is made for the person who is serious about work and has a lot of work online and has to edit docs and work on the go. Even though i have used many other phones including windows phones this one still is my favorite.
To start with this thing has an amazing battery life. 6 hrs of talktime and around 3days of standby time. And i have tested this baby to the max. Even with all messengers on 24x7 and a few hours of call I still get more than 24 hours from it. Which is great.
Form-factor and build quality- Well as i said before this is not the smallest phone in the world but its not the biggest either. Its nice and slim so it fits very comfortably in the palm of my hand. And the material of the outer casing is some kind of metal which is light and strong. it feels grip y to hold and will not slip out of your hand. Some people say that the paint goes fade or something but i have been using this phone for the past 2-3 years but nothing like that happened yet. I have dropped this phone numerous times but it has not shown any problems. Not even turning off when falling or hang ups. So i will say this is a very rigid phone and one who can take a lot of punishment and i think it is one of the most rigid phones i have.
The phone - As you know this is a phone from the nokia e series which is designed for the hardcore business professional. And this phone never disappoints. The primary objective of this phone is to handle work related things and stay online. The later priority is given to entertainment and fun although this phone does well in that grounds too. So keep that in mind when you want to buy a e series. Check if you fall into this category of user.
The Qwerty pad- This phone has a great qwerty pads i have ever used. It is well spaced and every easy to use. It has just enough space and button size that you can use for writing smoothly without feeling cramped at all. I have spent hours typing on this and it is not at all tiring on the fingers. It has great feedback so you will be sure if u pressed a key and it is very responsive so you will see the thing even if you press gently. It is so comfortable that i am typing this entire thing on the phone.
Office and online work- This is what this phone is made up of and i am sure it will not disappoint in this topic. First lets start with the office programs. The word is great and you can even do editing on this so no matter if you want to touch up a document or just view it or create a document from nothing it always is up for the job. I am creating this review in word from scratch. Then one more thing is sheet or excel. Its very user friendly and behaves just like our excel on pc. It can even understand complex formulas so all your needs are fulfilled. I use this to keep financial data and is always helpful. Then comes presentation editor which is also full featured. Now the online content. Well the inbuilt browser is great and is able to show full web including flash and java. If you have a lot of applications open though then it will sometimes show low memory on really huge pages. If that happens then you can always switch to the wap browser or any other alternate browser. The net experience is fast ans satisfying. If you like to stay online 24x7 like me then all you have to do is configure the inbuilt Im client or use any 3rd party ones like talkonaut. And you will be online in reach always. There is nokias mail for exchange which is great way to get emails on your phone and is always fast. It has online maps and navigation which is able to find your location without a gps and is very accurate.
Media- The phones screen is outstanding and is very large and great for viewing videos and if you install divx player and put avi files in it OMG its so clear and fun. I have put a lot of movies and videos in the phone in a 8gb card and it is always fun to watch them when you are travelling here and there. The default ear-buds just throw them away and get a new better quality one and then use it t listen to music. It is fun and is very satisfying. The default music player is very good and very easy to use it auto updates and so you don’t need to update every-time you have a new song in the phone. You can even put album arts on the phone and it will display it. so it is fun to use the media options. The phone has real player inbuilt and it is gr8 to play 3gp and rm and other formats and also do a little online video streaming.
Extra software's I use - as you kno this is a s60 3rd edition device and there is a world of free and paid software's available for installing in it. some of the software's I use to enhance the mobile experience are Voyager home screen its great to get wether updates and rss feeds and acts as a alternate home screen. It’s a paid software. Talkonaut is another one which I use to stay on my googletalk msn and aim at the same time. Online 24x7. Xplore is a great file explorer and is very useful. It’s a paid software. Opera mini is a great alternate browser. I also use skyfire to watch videos and do advanced Browsing. Kaspersky mobile is the best antivirus and I use it. its paid but totallly worth the safety it gives. Also use a paid software called mobilehelp to manage contacts. Smartget is a downloader I use for downloading.
